Elias Miller built his family a fortress. He never expected the greatest threat to come from within his own body.

Diagnosed with ALS and losing control of his hands, his feet, his voice--Elias refuses to let his failing body be the end of his story. As the world outside the Ridge begins to fracture, he turns to an old, strange gift: a set of teachings called the seven signs, passed down through visitors no one can quite explain. What starts as one dying man's warning becomes something the whole valley cannot ignore.

His daughters don't agree on how to protect what's left. His wife holds the house together in silence. And at the edge of their land, a mist called the Hush moves with a will of its own--punishing those who come with the wrong intentions, and protecting those who don't.
